About Our Nursery:

What Ofsted Said   Personal & Social Development
What Ofsted Said   Personal & Social Development

The recent Ofsted inspection produced an excellent report of the nursery provision here at Wren’s Nursery. For a full copy of the report please go to: www.ofsted.gov.uk

Here are just a few quotes from the report which highlight the extent of our achievements:

“Children are happy, settled and confident. They play cooperatively together and are kind and caring to others."

“The quality of the teaching is very good. Staff form good relationships with the children and make learning fun. They have high but realistic expectations for the children.”

“Staff make good use of the extensive school grounds to help children find out about the natural world…children are observant and comment on and ask questions about what they see and hear.”

This is a key area of development for all children of nursery school age. Here at Wren’s Nursery we place great emphasis upon developing the interpersonal skills of all our children. They are encouraged to care for those around them and learn from both their peers, the staff and the older children in the school.

In all areas of school life we aim to get the children to start to think for themselves through simple every day tasks.

The Curriculum   Integration into School
The Curriculum   Integration into School

All six areas of the Foundation Stage of the National Curriculum are covered at Wren's Nursery. We also incorporate the 'Birth to Three Matters' framework into activities for our 2-3 year olds.

The emphasis is on learning through play. As the children move into the Reception class their learning becomes more structured in order to help them make the transition into Primary School.

It is an essential part of our teaching that each child is treated as an individual and their progress is developed according to their ability and level of interest.

In addition to the National Curriculum we also encourage the children to learn French and Music and we have specialist teachers who come in to teach them these subject areas. Again, the emphasis is on learning through play so that their interest is sparked at a young age.

The family atmosphere of Hooke Court School means that the Nursery children are able to learn to form relationships with older children within a safe and secure environment.

All of our children are taught the value of looking after each other and the integration of the younger children with the older ones at playtime and sometimes during lessons is hugely successful and beneficial.
